Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Boxing Event Rebooked for Nov. 15

A new date has been set for the first live boxing event on
Netflix.

Legendary heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson (50-6, 2 NC; 44
KOs) was previously expected to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul
(9-1, 6 KOs) on July 20 in a modified rules pro boxing match. The
two were billed atop an event at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington,
Texas. Due to a medical issue stemming from an ulcer, Tyson was
forced to stop training and recover, which resulted in a
postponement of the show. Per Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions’
social
media
on Friday, the new date of the fight card will be Nov.
15.

The fights will be held in the same building as before, and it will
still air live on Netflix. Additionally, the co-headlining bout
remains intact and shifts to this date as well, as Katie Taylor
defends her lightweight throne against Amanda
Serrano
. It has not yet been announced if the remainder of the
matchups on the lineup will be relocated to this new date.

Tyson retired from pro boxing after back-to-back stoppage losses to
Danny Williams and Kevin McBride in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
The soon-to-be 58-year-old’s lone return to the ring in a
legitimate capacity since then came in an exhibition contest
against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, where the two fought to a draw.
During his active years, Tyson served as the undisputed heavyweight
champion, holding WBA, WBC and IBF belts while becoming the first
to do so.

This will be Paul’s first appearance at or over 200 pounds, as he
has never eclipsed the 198.5 pounds that he weighed against Andre
August in December. Paul started his time in the sport by wiping
out influencer Ali Eson Gib before dispatching ex-basketball player
Nate Robinson. “The Problem Child” went on to defeat Ben Askren,
Tyron
Woodley
twice and Anderson
Silva
, which prompted a meeting against fellow undefeated boxer
Tommy Fury. Paul lost a split decision to the younger brother of
heavyweight king Tyson Fury,
and he bounced back with victories over Nate Diaz,
August and Ryan Bourland.
