A battery charge against
Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight Sedriques
Dumas was dropped during a plea hearing on Monday in Escambia
County (Fla.) court.

A nolle prosequi — a formal notice that charges are no longer being
pursued — was filed by prosecutors during the hearing. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the news.
Dumas was
arrested on Feb. 13 for allegedly slapping the mother of his
child. The fighter posted a video on his Facebook page depicting a
confrontation before police before he was taken into custody.
“All my charges have been dropped on the DV case and [f—k]
everybody,” Dumas wrote in a since-deleted post on social media.
“They call me a woman beater to my BM and everything else and thank
you to my lawyer Greg Whibbs, one of the best lawyers that I have
on my team and will always be on my team. Thank you Allah.”
Dumas has a
lengthy criminal history that was brought to light prior to his
UFC debut. This includes allegedly punching a woman during an
incident that began at a bar in Pensacola, Florida in August 2022 a
few days before Dumas fought on Dana White’s Contender Series.
According to a police report, the brawl spilled out of the bar and
continued over several blocks. Dumas was accused of initiating the
melee and also of brandishing a firearm, but the case was
ultimately closed without arrests being made.
Dumas’ criminal record dates back to 2014 and includes pasts
arrests for shoplifting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
without intent to kill, trespassing on school property with a
weapon or firearm, resisting arrest and obstruction without
violence and domestic battery.
Dumas is coming off a first-round technical knockout loss to
Nursulton
Ruziboev at
UFC on ESPN 54 on March 30. He spent 16 days in jail during his
camp for that fight as a result of the arrest. Dumas recently
indicated that his next bout will take place on July 13, which is
the date for a UFC Fight Night card expected to be held in Denver.
The
Dana White’s Contender Series alum owns a 2-2 record in UFC
competition.
