Nachin Sat Stings Unbeaten Prospect Carlos Neyheban Alvarez at One Friday Fights 43

Nachin
Sat
never bought into the hype.

The Mongolian brute dazzled in his first One
Championship
assignment, as he put away previously unbeaten
Lakay MMA prospect Carlos
Neyheban Alvarez
with punches in the third round of their

ONE Friday Fights 43
featherweight showcase on Friday at
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Undone by an
accumulation of damage and visible fatigue, Alvarez (3-1, 3-1 ONE)
checked out 4:27 into Round 3.

Sat (5-2, 1-0 ONE) had a little more grit in an action-packed,
back-and-forth battle that saw both men in considerable peril.
Alvarez floored his adversary with a booming right hand in the
first round, then opened a cut near his left eye with topside elbow
strikes before nearly drawing the curtain with a rear-naked choke
in the second. Sat withstood those considerable efforts, made his
way back to an upright position and cut loose with punches, elbows
and knees, many of them from close range. Alvarez ultimately wilted
against the ropes, stopped there with a series of unanswered
punches.

The 25-year-old Sat has rattled off three consecutive victories,
all of them finishes.

Meanwhile, Shooto veteran
Ryosuke
Honda
rode a surgical straight left hand, sneaky head kicks and
a late takedown to a unanimous decision over Dave
Bangguigui
in a three-round strawweight feature. Honda (12-3-1,
1-0 ONE) curried necessary favor with all three ringside
judges.

Bangguigui (9-3, 3-2 ONE) was game in defeat—he surged in the
second round behind powerful hooks from both hands—but struggled to
break out of a reactionary approach. Honda staggered him with a
head kick at the end of the first round, then suffocated him with
positional control in the third before scrambling to the back and
hunting a rear-naked choke in the closing seconds.

Honda, 32, has won four of his past five bouts.

Further down the card, Faine
Mesquita
outgrappled 19-year-old Baktygul
Kurmanbekova
to a unanimous decision in a three-round women’s
strawweight attraction. All three members of the judiciary sided
with Mesquita (2-0, 1-0 ONE), who made a solid first impression
with the organization.

Kurmanbekova (4-3, 0-1 ONE) secured multiple takedowns but failed
to corral her Australian counterpart on the canvas. Mesquita
executed a number of sweeps and employed an effective attack from
her back, opening a small cut on the Kyrgyzstani teenager’s nose
with an elbow strike from the bottom. Kurmanbekov powered into top
position behind a primal shriek late in Round 3, only to wander
into a guillotine choke in the waning moments.

The loss snapped Kurmanbekova’s two-fight winning streak.
