Chingiz Allazov, Mikey Musumeci Shine in ONE Fight Night 13 Victories

Chingiz
Allazov
has waited nearly a decade to enact his revenge on
rival Marat
Grigorian
. On Friday, he finally got his chance.

The One
Championship
featherweight kickboxing champion successfully
defended his title for the first time after striking circles around
Grigorian for five rounds in the
ONE on Prime Video 13
main event at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in
Bangkok, Thailand.

Grigorian entered the fight having won seven of his last eight
bouts by using a disciplined, high-octane, pressure heavy style,
but Allazov had all the answers for it.

The champ used quick footwork to stay on the outside and pick
Grigorian apart with leg kicks and teeps.

Grigorian seemed lost for most of the evening as he chased Allazov
around the ring looking to land something big. He would nearly find
it in the fifth. After dancing for the first 12 minutes, Allazov’s
legs looked heavy for the final three. Grigorian hunted him down
and forced his foe to slug it out to the final bell. Allazov
survived to the final bell before hoisting the belt and dedicating
the win to his late grandfather.

Musumeci Taps ONE Champ

ONE strawweight champion Jarred
Brooks
dared to be great and claim a second belt in another
sport but unfortunately ran into “Darth Rigatoni.”

Mikey
Musumeci
defended his flyweight submission title with an armbar
submission of Brooks.

Brooks proved why he was viewed as a threat to Musumeci’s title by
challenging the champ’s passes with excellent hand fighting, but at
no point was Musumeci in trouble himself.

Brooks began to feel trouble midway through the match as Musumeci
took his back, but after a couple minutes of struggling the two
were stood up by referee Vitor “Shaolin”
Ribeiro
.

Musumeci, who claimed in the lead up of the fight that he’d
consider anything less than a submission a loss, went right after
Brooks again before bringing him deep into his guard. It was only a
matter of time before he would slip his legs over Brooks’ head and
finish the submission — an armbar from triangle guard position —
with textbook tenacity.

Tawanchai Breaks Kiria Off

ONE featherweight muay thai champion
Tawanchai P.K. Saenchaimuaythaigym
was dominant in his
kickboxing debut against Davit Kiria
and stopped him in the third round with a kick that appeared to
snap Kiria’s arm.

Kiria absorbed several hard kicks to his right arm and then
Tawanchai connected with one final blow that connected with such
force that an audible snap sounded out and Kiria immediately let
the ref know that he was injured and did not want to continue. The
official time was 0:29 of the third period.

The true story is what’s next for the champion. Tawanchai will face
former featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon Singha Mawyrnn in
ONE Fight Night on Oct. 6 back at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Lineker Rallies for Dramatic Win

John
Lineker
waited until the last second, well technically the last
four seconds, to remind us why he’s called “Hands of Stone” Friday
night.

Lineker, seemingly down on the scorecards after dealing with all he
could handle in the form of Jae Woong
Kim
, was a step behind all night.

Woong fought beautifully and routinely beat Lineker to the punch;
heading into Round 3 it was clear that he was up and Lineker needed
to push the pace.

Lineker got the message and walked down Woong before dropping him
with a straight right to the body following by a wicked left hook
to the jaw.

Woong’s head laid propped up on the ropes as Lineker cemented the
comeback with a flurry of blows. Fresh off his comeback win,
Lineker’s name was instantly thrown back into the mix for a rematch
with ONE featherweight MMA champion Fabricio
Andrade
.

’Super Girl’ Impresses in Kickboxing Debut

Muay thai star Anna
Jaroonsak
shined in her ONE kickboxing debut against the
scrappy Lara
Fernandez
in a 118-pound bout.

Jaroonsak opened the fight dominant, tagging Fernandez with
straight shots at ease. “Super Girl” looked in control, banking the
first two rounds but Fernandez made her pay for taking her foot off
the accelerator.

Fernandez’s best work came in the final round as she found success
touching Super Girl’s chin. Jaroonsak played defense knowing that
she had the fight locked away, but Fernandez’s push down the
stretch made things closer than expected. In the end, all three
judges saw the contest for Jaroonsak.

Kane Upsets ‘Buchecha’

Oumar
Kane
handed Marcus
Almeida
his first career mixed martial arts loss in a
three-round heavyweight slugfest.

Neither man coming in had seen the third round and both tried
valiantly to keep that stat between them. Kane nearly ended things
in the first after tossing Almeida to the mat and following up with
viscous ground-and-pound.

Kane’s stamina was a clear issue throughout the fight as the
Senegalese slugger struggled to push for a finish. Almeida stormed
back with several takedown attempts but lacked much gas in his own
tank.

After receiving several warnings from referee Herb Dean
throughout the fight for fouls like grabbing the shorts and rabbit
punching, Kane was given a yellow card in the third round. Sensing
a chance to get back into the contest, Almedia swung at Kane with
everything he had left as the two battled it out. In the end,
Kane’s early moments led the way to a unanimous decision win,
despite the fouls.

Mahmoudi Throttles Tabares in Return Bout

Two years wasn’t too long for Elias
Mahmoudi
on Friday night. After breaking his hand and missing
the last two years, Mahmoudi exploded back onto the scene with a
first round beatdown of Edgar
Tabares
.

Mahmoudi took a seven-inch reach advantage into their 135.25 pound
catchweight muay thai bout, but wasted little time pulling Tabares
into his clinch. Mahmoudi overwhelmed Tabares early and dropped the
Mexican twice in the first minute.

Mahmoudi threw the kitchen sink at Tabares looking for the finish,
but would
ultimately close things out with a viscous display of
knees
that dropped Tabares for a third and final time
at 1:38 of Round 1.

Ruotolo Cashses In

Tye
Ruotolo
earned a $50,000 bonus after submitting Saygid
Guseyn Arslanaliev
with ease in under three minutes into their
180-pound submission grappling bout.

Ruotolo looked like he ended Arslanaliev’s night even earlier after
the Turkey native tapped to an Achilles lock. Arslanaliev’s gesture
was not acknowledged by the referee, but the bout wouldn’t last for
much longer. Ruotolo quickly reset, got back to action and took his
back,
where he finished the fight with a rear-naked choke just seconds
later at 2:39
.

In addition to his bonus, Ruotolo was rewarded with a submission
grappling title shot at 185 pounds against an opponent to be
decided.

Sitsongpeenong Continues Impressive Streak

Rungrawee
Sitsongpeenong
hasn’t lost in over four years, but Nauzet
Trujillo
believed he could be the man to break the streak.

Trujillo’s awkward style found its moments throughout the 174-pound
catchweight muay thai bout, but Rungrawee’s poise, experience and
wicked left hand was too sharp as he picked up his 11th straight
win (155-46) by unanimous decision.

Rungraweee’s pressure was relentless all night and he kept Trujillo
on the back foot. The Spaniard caught him with several hard knees
to the body, but caught the backend of Rungrawee’s arsenal for his
troubles.

Relentlessness Pays Off for Baatarkhuu

After getting dropped to the canvas twice in the first round,
Mongolian bantamweight Enkh-Orgil
Baatarkhuu
rose to pick up the biggest win of his career over
Jhanlo Mark
Sangiao
in the opening bout of the card.

Sangiao’s hand speed told the tale early and caused issues for the
34-year-old vet. Baatarkhuu found some success on the ground as he
nearly locked in a kimura multiple times in the opening stanza.

Baatarkhuu’s determination paid off midway throughout the second
after successfully taking down Sangiao. After nearly finishing off
another kimura, referee Herb Dean
called a halt to inspect a possible tap. Despite the delay,

Baatarkhuu would find the submission seconds later at the 2:53 mark
of Round 2
.
