Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki card will see the return of
heavyweight kingpin Philip De
Fries in an intriguing matchup with Szymon
Bajor.
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, De Fries and
Bajor will collide in the KSW
84 headliner at PolSat Plus Arena in Gdynia, Poland.
De Fries (23-6, 1 NC; 9-0 KSW) is the most dominant champion in KSW
history, with eight title defenses under his belt. The
Ultimate Fighting Championship alum captured the vacant
heavyweight championship with a first-round stoppage over Michal
Andryszak at KSW 45 in 2018. He then overcame challengers such
as former 205-pound titleholder Tomasz
Narkun (twice), Michal Kita,
fellow UFC vet Darko
Stosic, and more. In his most recent assignment, De Fries
crushed Todd Duffee
with punches in the opening period at KSW 79, vindicating a defeat
at the hands of the American dating back to 2012.
Bajor (24-9, 0-0 KSW) is coming off a brief stint under the
Professional Fighters League banner, where he dominated
Ronny
Markes en route to a unanimous decision in August. A former
Fight Exclusive Night heavyweight titleholder, Bajor is 7-1 as of
late and is riding a four-bout winning streak. The 34-year-old
Polish fighter boasts an 84% finishing rate with 10 stoppages by
strikes and 10 submissions.
The upcoming KSW 84 event will also feature former 135-pound
champion Sebastian
Przybysz and 2012 London Olympics Greco-Roman wrestling bronze
medalist Damian
Janikowski clashing with yet-to-be-announced opponents.
