The protagonists of Saturdayโs
Cage Warriors main event had no issues making championship
weight.
All is set for the anticipated 170-pound championship reunification
clash between welterweight titleholder Rhys McKee
and interim ace Jim
Wallhead in the
CW 153 main event.
Ultimate Fighting Championship alum McKee (12-4-1, 5-0 CW)
captured the vacant crown after knocking out Justin
Burlinson 20 seconds out of the gate in the third round at CW
140. On Friday morning, โSkeletor” stepped on the scales at 169.4
pounds.
Seasoned vet Wallhead (33-11, 13-6 CW) shocked the world when he
stopped the up-and-coming Mateusz
Figlak with punches in the opening frame of their CW 146 clash
to claim the interim 170-pound title. After his UFC stint, โJudoโ
has put together a four-bout winning streak heโll ride in his next
assignment. Wallhead weighed in at 169.7 pounds.
The co-feature will see Tobias
Harila (144.5) facing Ryan
Shelley (145.9) in a featherweight affair, with both
contestants passing the scale test with flying colors. On the rest
of the card, Nicolas
Leblond had to try twice before making the scale pointing the
125.3 mark for his flyweight tilt with Ryan
Curtis.
CW 153 will go down at the 3 Arena in Dublin on Saturday, April 29.
The main card will start at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, while the prelims
kick off at 12:45 p.m. ET/9:45 a.m. PT.
