Promotion officials announced the new featherweight pairing on
Wednesday. Bellator 288 takes place on Nov. 18 at Wintrust Arena in
Chicago and is headlined by a light heavyweight title clash between
Vadim
Nemkov and Corey
Anderson. In the co-main event, Patricky
Freire will defend his lightweight crown against Usman
Nurmagomedov. The main card airs on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/6
p.m. PT.
A two-time featherweight title challenger, Weichel is 3-2 in his
last five promotional appearances dating back to 2019. The
37-year-old German is coming off a 72-second stoppage of Robert
Whiteford at Bellator 281 this past May.
Khizriev will make his Bellator debut with an 11-0 record. The
26-year-old Russian last competed in September 2021, when he
submitted Ruslan
Ryskul in the opening round of their clash under the Eagle FC
banner in Moscow.
In addition to the change on the main card, Bellator announced a
handful of new bouts for the preliminary lineup: Sullivan
Cauley vs. Jay Radick
at light heavyweight; Killys Mota
vs. Jairo
Pacheco at lightweight and Laird
Anderson vs. Rob Fenicle
at featherweight.
