According to multiple reports, Bryce
Mitchell and Ilia
Topuria have agreed to square off at the promotion’s final
pay-per-view event of 2022.
Fight Bananas was first to bring word of the booking. UFC 282
takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 10 and
features a light heavyweight title tilt between Jiri
Prochazka and Glover
Teixeira.
Mitchell was originally scheduled to lock horns with Movsar
Evloev at UFC Fight Night 214 on Nov. 5 before Evloev pulled
out of the event due to injury. Topuria, meanwhile, was paired with
Edson
Barboza at UFC Fight Night 213 on Oct. 29, but his foe also
withdrew due to injury.
Mitchell has kicked off his professional tenure with 15 consecutive
wins. He is 6-0 in UFC competition, including a three-round verdict
over Barboza in his last outing at UFC 272 on March 5. “Thug Nasty”
has gone the distance in all but one of his triumphs within the Las
Vegas-based promotion.
Spain’s Topuria is 12-0 since beginning his pro MMA career in 2015.
“El Matador” is 4-0 in the Octagon, with with first-round knockouts
of Damon
Jackson, Ryan Hall and
Jai
Herbert to his credit.
