Tawanchai Upsets Petchmorakot, Captures Featherweight Muay Thai Title at One 161

The upsets were frequent and frenetic at the latest One Championship event, culminating with a
challenger unexpectedly capturing a throne.

The One
161
headliner featured a featherweight muay thai championship
affair between defending titleholder Petchmorakot Petchyindee and
Tawanchai PK.Saenchai. The challenger quickly imposed his pace,
attacking with his well-known nasty kicks. In turn, Petchmorakot
put his fast hands to work. The pair went to battle in Round 3 with
a flurry of punches and elbows. Petchmorakot relied on his
experience in the championship rounds, but the challenger appeared
fresher than his foe down the line. While Petchmorakot adopted a
hit-and-run strategy, Tawanchai hunted down his opponent across the
cage and landed several hard shots. Ultimately, all three cageside
judges sided with Tawanchai, who wrested the strap from the
champ.

In the co-main event, current light heavyweight kickboxing
beltholder Roman
Kryklia

prix. It took only 52 seconds for the Ukrainian to crush his foe
and secure a place in the tournament’s final, while securing his
12th consecutive victory. Kryklia first stunned Inocente with a
series of powerful punches, forcing a count from the referee for
the Brazilian. Inocente came back in time, but he was visibly
affected by his foe’s shots. Sensing the end was near, Kryklia
unloaded with a head kick that forced the referee to stop the
contest for Inocente’s safety. Kryklia will face Iraj Azizpour in
an exciting rematch that will go down at the upcoming final. His
prospective opponent Azizpour outpointed Bruno
Chaves
on all scorecards earlier on the card.
