lightweight bout between Ludovit
Klein vs. Mason
Jones.

Both men came out looking to strike, but it was Jones (11-2, 1 NC)
that was able to control the distance and eventually back “Mr.
Highlight” against the cage. When at a distance, Klein (19-4)
showed off some impressive striking that included a jumping high
kick that landed. Klein was in full control of the second frame, as
he was able to drop Jones with punches and did the most damage. The
final frame saw Jones pull guard and work off his back, which was a
risky move that didn’t pay off with a submission.
After three rounds of action, all three judges scored the fight
30-27 in the favor of Klein.
Diakiese vs. Hadzovic
Marc
Diakiese showed plenty of skills on the ground against Damir
Hadzovic.
Showing a well-rounded game, Diakiese (16-5) was able to take down
Hadzovic (14-7) early and controlled the entirety of the first
round. Diakiese continued taking down his foe in the second round.
Hadzovic suffered a cut due to a clash of heads late in Round 2,
which led to “Bonecrusher” opening up a bit more on the feet and on
the ground during the final frame.
A dominant unanimous decision win went to Diakiese, who received
scorecards of 30-26, 30-26 and 30-27.
Wood Chops Down Rosa
Charles
Rosa showed a lot of toughness and limited defense against
Nathaniel
Wood.
Wood (18-5) had an impressive start by landing damaging calf kicks
that clearly hurt Rosa (14-8). The punches of Wood were also on
point as jabs and straight punches repeatedly found their target.
Rosa was able to threaten with the occasional takedown, but Wood
continued chopping down the legs of Rosa for a clear-cut win.
After three brutal rounds for Rosa’s calves, Wood received a
unanimous decision via scores of 30-26, 30-26 and 30-27.
Pearce Punishes Amirkhani
Makwan
Amirkhani never had a backup plan against Jonathan
Pearce.
Amirkhani (17-8) made his game plan clear early on as he
desperately went for a takedown. Pearce (13-4) was able to elbow
his opponent dozens of times during the event and cut open “Mr.
Finland.” This set the tone for the fight as Amirkhani stayed
active on the ground looking for submissions while taking a
tremendous amount of punishment.
The damage added up as Pearce was able to take over the fight in
Round 2 and eventually pounded away for a TKO win.
The stoppage officially came at 4:10 of the second frame.
Mokaev Easily Controls Johnson
Muhammad
Mokaev proved he’s a flyweight to watch against Charles
Johnson.
After bloodying up the nose of Johnson (11-3), Mokaev (8-0, 1 NC)
took his back while standing and threatened him with takedown and
rear-naked choke attempts. While the fight wasn’t finished in the
first, Mokaev would continuing grappling with his opponent and
successfully took the fight to the floor in the final two rounds.
Defensively sound, Johnson was never in danger of being finished
but could never get on the offensive.
Mokaev took home a clear-cut unanimous decision with three 30-27
scorecards.
Herbert Impresses Against Nelson
Lightweight Jai Herbert
looked promising and renewed in his battle with Kyle
Nelson.
Nelson (13-5) came out with a strategy of pressuring Herbert (12-4)
into the fence, which worked well in the first frame. Spurred on by
his corner, Herbert came out firing more in the second frame,
although Nelson was able to grapple on the feet and slow things
down once again, although to a lesser degree. Herbert began taking
over by Round 3, as the fresher fighter had sharp striking at range
and took down his tired foe.
Thanks to his work in the final two rounds, Herbert was able to
take home a unanimous decision victory with scores of 29-28 in his
favor across the board.
Leonardo Outworks Bohm
The night’s first women’s mixed martial arts bout saw Mandy Bohm
go up against fellow flyweight Victoria
Leonardo.
Fought primarily on the feet, Leonardo (9-4) was able to use dirty
boxing in the clinch to control large portions of the fight and
slow down the action. Bohm (7-2, 1 NC) had her moments at distance,
hurting Leonardo with strikes to the body in the second round.
Leonardo was the more active fighter down the stretch and was able
to get a takedown late, which was enough to firmly secure a
victory.
Leonardo took three 30-27 scorecards home confirming a clean
sweep.
Dalby Outlasts Exhausted Silva
The first fight of the night saw welterweights Claudio
Silva and Nicolas
Dalby clash in a back-and-forth test of wills.
Early on, it was the ground game of Silva (14-4) that proved to be
the difference as the Brazilian was able to dominate Dalby (20-4-1,
2 NC) once the fight hit the mat. Dalby was able to weather the
storm during the first frame and managed to make a comeback during
Round 2 as an exhausted Silva couldn’t keep the Denmark native
down. With a series of knees and well-timed punches, Dalby was able
to punish Silva for the final two rounds and even control “Hannibal” on the floor.
After 15 minutes, Dalby took a unanimous decision with 29-28, 29-28
and 29-27 scorecards.
