Majority Decision Sends Wellinton Prado Past Italo Gomes in LFA 136 Main Event

Wellinton
Prado
planted his flag in the
Legacy Fighting Alliance
featherweight division with a majority
decision over Italo Gomes
in the
LFA 136
headliner on Friday at Ubaldo Goncalves Municipal
Sports Center in Caraguatatuba, Brazil. Scores were 29-27, 29-27
and 28-28.

Gomes (11-3, 1-1 LFA) benefitted from a point deduction after being
poked in the eye in the first round but failed to make the lead
stand. Prado (13-2, 1-0 LFA) took down the Tata Fight Team
representative multiple times across the final 10 minutes, largely
corralled him on the canvas and was emboldened enough to attempt a
calf slicer at one point. He iced the win in Round 3, where he
climbed to full mount, attacked with elbows to the body and enjoyed
a sustained run of positional dominance at Gomes’ expense.

The 22-year-old Prado will carry a three-fight winning streak into
his next assignment.

Meanwhile, Parana Vale Tudo prospect Davi Costa
rode takedowns, clinches and positional control to a unanimous
decision over Eduardo
Henrique
in the three-round flyweight co-main event. All three
judges sided with Costa (13-3, 1-0 LFA): 30-27, 30-27 and
29-28.

Henrique (10-2, 0-1 LFA) did his best work in the middle stanza,
where his efforts were highlighted by a prolonged attack on the
legs with his counterpart in the butt scoot position. Costa was the
aggressor in both the standup and grappling exchanges, as he kept
the favored Maquininha do Futuro product off-balance for much of
their 15-minute encounter. He executed a takedown in the third
round, kept Henrique pinned to the canvas and piled up points with
ground-and-pound from full guard and half guard.

Costa, 27, has rattled off nine straight wins.

Finally, former Jungle Fight champion Bruno Lopes
stayed undefeated with an arm-triangle submission of Mailton
Azevedo
in the first round of their light heavyweight showcase.
Azevedo (10-4, 0-1 LFA) conceded defeat 4:49 into Round 1, his
modest two-fight winning streak at an end.

Lopes (10-0, 1-0 LFA) seized the reins at the start and never ceded
control. He struck for a takedown roughly two minutes into the
first round and later returned Azevedo to the mat a second time.
Lopes achieved full mount on multiple occasions, battered the
Parana Vale Tudo export with punches and elbows, maintained top
position and cinched the arm-triangle choke. His squeeze did the
rest.

The 29-year-old Lopes has finished five consecutive opponents, four
of them inside one round.

In other action, Edianna
Silva
(12-2, 1-0 LFA) laid claim to a unanimous verdict over
Amanda
Torres
(8-6, 0-1 LFA), earning 30-27 scores across the board;
Jonas
Bilharinho
(10-2-1, 1-1 LFA) captured a unanimous
decision—30-24, 30-24, 30-24—over Pedro Lopes
(5-1, 0-1 LFA) in a three-round featherweight affair; Rafael
Costa
(14-3, 1-1 LFA) was awarded a unanimous verdict over
Wallace
Lopes
(9-3, 0-1 LFA) in a three-round bantamweight clash,
drawing 29-28 marks from all three cageside judges; Junior
Assis
(8-3, 1-0 LFA) took a unanimous decision—30-27, 30-27,
29-27—from Hermison
Oliveira
(10-7, 0-1 LFA) in a three-round flyweight tilt; and
Jairo
Pacheco
(7-0, 1-0 LFA) cut down Rhalber
Bernardo
(8-6, 0-1 LFA) with punches 4:33 into the second round
of their lightweight pairing.
