UFC 275 will go down as one of the greatest events in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship history and that statement is
bolstered by the fact that eight post-fight bonuses were handed
out.
Anchored by a mesmerizing main event that saw rising star Jiri
Prochazka come back from near certain defeat multiple times to
submit reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Glover
Teixeira in the waning seconds of the fifth round. Both men
were battered and bloody; each were seriously rocked by punches to
the head and the two warriors waged one of the wildest, most insane
fights in recent memory. Prochazkaβs rear-naked choke of Teixeira
earned him a $50K Performance of the Night bonus to coincide with
the same-dollar bonus both men received for Fight of the Night.
Former champion Weili Zhang
shocked the world when she knocked out fellow former champ Joanna
Joanna
Jedrzejczyk with a thrilling spinning backfist in the second
round. The strike forced Jedrzejczyk to fall face first and then
announce her retirement from mixed martial arts. Zhangβs torching
of one of the greatest female fighters in history allowed her to
take home a $50K POTN bonus.
Jake
Matthews also nabbed a $50K POTN bonus for his sensational
multi-punch knockout of Andre
Fialho in the second round. The two landed plenty of nasty
leather, but Matthews closed out the show with a barrage against
the cage until the Portuguese fighter was out cold.
Jack
Della Maddalena pocketed $50K for POTN as well for his clubbing
of Ramazan
Emeev in the second stanza, as did Maheshate
Hayisaer for his one-punch destruction of Steve
Garcia in the opening frame. Finally, Silvana
Gomez Juarez picked up the same $50K POTN bonus for her
brilliant flurry of punches that iced Na Liang early
in the first.
On a side note, Crypto teamed up with the UFC for a fan vote where
three fighters were given out bonuses in Bitcoin. Reigning womenβs
flyweight champion Valentina
Shevchenko received the most votes and earned $30K; Prochazka
took home $20K and Zhang was awarded $10K.
