The
Ultimate Fighting Championship on Friday announced that
Paddy
Pimblett will face Jordan
Leavitt in a lightweight clash as part of a UFC Fight Night
event on July 23 in London. Pimblett received one of the biggest
pops during the UFCβs latest foray into England, and the
Nevada-based promotion undoubtedly wants to strike while the iron
remains hot.

A former
Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder, Pimblett
(18-3, 2-0 UFC) made a successful promotional debut by stopping
Luigi
Vendramini with punches in the opening stanza of their
lightweight affair at UFC Fight Night 191. Subsequently, he forced
Rodrigo
Vargas to tap to a rear-naked choke in the opening period of
their UFC Fight Night 204 encounter in March. The Next Generation
UK standout is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with
all four wins resulting in first-round finishes.

In his most recent appearance, Leavitt (10-1, 3-1 UFC) edged
Trey
Ogden thanks to a narrow split decision at UFC on ESPN 34.
Prior to that, the
Dana Whiteβs Contender Series graduate scored an ultra-rare
inverted triangle choke finish at the expense of Matt Sayles
at UFC Fight Night 199 in December. So far, only Claudio
Puelles has managed to solve βThe Monkey King,β as he
outpointed Leavitt in June 2021.
The upcoming UFC Fight Night event will go down at the O2 Arena,
headlined by a heavyweight clash between Tom
Aspinall and Curtis
Blaydes. In the co-main event, former 170-pound title
challenger Darren Till
collides with Jack
Hermansson at 185 pounds.
