“Ugly Man” quickly connected with a well-timed knee that floored
Alen
Amedovski. While Amedovski somehow got back to his feet, Holmes
(8-2) stayed composed and quickly wrapped up a rear-naked choke. At
1:04 of Round 1, Amedovski (8-3) was forced to tap out.
Amedovski is now 0-3 inside the promotion.
Almeida Taps Porter
Jailton
Almeida‘s quick detour into the heavyweight division was a
successful one.
Almeida (16-2) was in control from the very beginning as he took
down Parker
Porter just seconds into the fight. The Brazilian began raining
down punches early with Porter (12-7) surviving the early onslaught
but never able to get back to his feet. “Malhadinho” kept on the
pressure and
eventually secured a rear-naked choke that elicited a tap from
Porter at 4:35 of the first round.
Almeida is now 2-0 inside the Octagon.
Medic Ails Morales With Punches
“The Doctor” was in Las Vegas as Uros Medic
stopped Omar
Morales.
While the first round was a back-and-forth contest on the feet,
Medic (8-1) would hurt Morales (11-3) at the end of the round,
which was just a preview of what was to come. In Round 2, Medic
would work behind his jab and issued a more varied attack than his
opponent
before flooring Morales with a series of punches. After three quick
knockdowns, the fight was stopped at the 3:05 mark of Round
2.
This is the first TKO defeat for “Venezuelan Fighter.”
Martinez Outstrikes Morales
Bantamweight Jonathan
Martinez proved to be one step ahead of Vince
Morales.
From the very beginning of their three-round bout, the smooth
striking of Martinez (16-4) was on display. The legs of Morales
(11-6) were battered with leg kicks that slowed down the Idaho
fighter. “Dragon” never took any risks but controlled the action
over 15 minutes landing solid punches and kicks that never came
close to finishing Morales but soundly won each round as evident by
the three 30-27 scorecards that the judges turned in.
The victory puts Martinez on a three-fight win streak since a 2021
defeat to Davey
Grant.
Hooper Shows Improvements Against Colares
Chase
Hooper continues to be a prospect to watch.
In a back-and-forth battle that took place both on the ground and
on the feet, Hooper (11-2-1) showed improved poise and striking
against Felipe
Dias Colares. Hooper always stayed active, looking to either
damage his opponent or secure a submission. The pace eventually
tired out Colares (10-4) and “The Dream” finished the fight off with punches at 3:00 of Round
3.
Hooper now has two TKO victories inside the UFC.
Hughes Dominates Reed
Sam
Hughes scored her second straight UFC win by dominating
Elise
Reed.
The grappling advantage of “Sampage” was made apparent early as she
was able to repeatedly take Reed (5-2) down to the ground. Once on
the floor, Hughes (7-4) controlled position and landed damaging
punches and elbows after working her way to mount. During the third
round, Hughes
began unloading elbows and the fight was stopped at the 3:52
mark.
Hughes is now 2-3 inside the Octagon.
