Destiny appears not to favor a Marcus
Almeida vs. Oumar Kane
matchup. On Monday morning, the Singapore-based promotion announced
that One “Reloaded” lost the much-anticipated heavyweight matchup.
An official reason hasn’t been disclosed, but One aims to
reschedule the clash for an as-yet unannounced event. It is the
second time the promotion has postponed the fight after the pair
was supposed to collide at last year’s ONE on TNT 1.

Multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu heavyweight champion Almeida
(2-0, 2-0 One) impressed in his mixed martial arts debut, where he
submitted Anderson
“Braddock” Silva thanks to a vicious north-south choke at 2:55
in the opening frame at One: “Revolution.” In his most recent
appearance, “Buchecha” forced Ji Won Kang
to tap to a rear-naked choke at the 2:27 mark of Round 1 at One:
“Winter Warriors.”
Senegalese wrestling sensation Kane (3-1, 2-1 One) is looking to
bounce back from his first defeat as a professional after retiring
due to fatigue at the end of the second frame of his clash with
Kirill
Grishenko at One on TNT 4. Prior to that loss, “Reug Reug” had
stopped Patrick
Schmid in a one-sided squash match and smashed Alain
Ngalani with a storm of ground-and-pound.
One “Reloaded” will go down on April 22 at the Singapore Indoor
Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The headliner features a lightweight
kickboxing championship affair between defending titleholder
Regian
Eersel and Arian
Sadikovic. In the co-headliner, Smilla Sundell and Jackie
Buntan will collide for the inaugural strawweight muay Thai
title.
