Thankfully, no one was injured in this sudden attack on Wednesday
night.
Per The Mirror on Thursday, the Black Forge Inn in Dublin – known
as the marquee pub owned by Ultimate Fighting Championship start Conor
McGregor – was bombed by Molotov cocktails on Wednesday
evening. McGregor was not in the building at the time, and no
damage was reported as a result.
According to witnesses, two men riding scooters rode by the pub,
allegedly hurling the described “petrol bombs” at the closed
establishment. They were then chased away by a few people who came
out of the building. In addition to the two thrown Molotov
cocktails, two more were subsequently found nearby. A spokesperson
of the Black Forge Inn released a statement that read the
following:
“After hours last night it appears that criminals made an
unprovoked effort to inflict damage to the Black Forge Inn. There
was no damage done to any patrons, employees or the Forge and Mr.
McGregor was not on the premises at the time of the incident. The
gardai have opened an investigation into the event. We are open and
busy as always.”
The Irish police asked for additional witnesses to come forward and
contact them, while also requesting that anyone with video footage
to submit it for the investigation.
”Gardai are particularly keen for anyone with camera footage
from the area overnight to make this available to them. Anyone with
information is asked to contact Crumlin Garda station on 01 666
2000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda
station.”
McGregor has not competed since breaking his leg at UFC 264 during
his trilogy match against Dustin
Poirier, where he succumbed the injury at the end of the
opening round. The Irishman and his team expect he will be back in
action mid-2022, and despite suffering two consecutive defeats, he
has his sights set on the lightweight title.
