Glory Kickboxing has announced a new series called “Glory
Rivals.”
The new series aims to form relationships with other top kickboxing
promotions around the world to do cross-promotion kickboxing
events. In the announcement, Glory revealed that “Glory Rivals”
will kick off with a cross promotion with the Eurpoean-based
Enfusion organization. Glory also announced a partnership with
RISE, which is based in Japan.
Executive vice chairman Scott Rudmann weighed in on the motivation
behind the decision to push for cross-promotion events in
kickboxing, citing fans and promotions wanting to see the best
fight the best. Rudmann believes that Glory has the best kickboxers
in the world and is ready to pony up and prove it to the world.
“It’s time for the best fighters in the world to fight, regardless
of organization,” he said. “At Glory, we’re confident we have the
best talent and we’re willing to prove it. We welcome the challenge
of any MMA, boxing, or kickboxing organization that believes their
fighters can compete against ours. It’s time for a change in the
combat landscape and we’re excited to lead the way.”
Rudmann also recognizes that some of Glory’s best fighters have
come from these promotions and mentions some of the best talent
that has not come over yet like Tenshin Nasukawa.
“We’re excited to partner with both organizations and create new
events together,” Rudmann said. “Many of Glory’s top fighters
debuted with Enfusion, including middleweight champion Donovan
Wisse and top contenders Levi Rigters, Mohammed Jaraya, and Luis
Tavares. RISE is the leading kickboxing organization in Japan and
features some of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world,
including Tenshin.”
No dates or cards have been announced for the first Glory Rivals
events, but they are expected to be announced shortly. Glory is
also exploring additional partnerships with promotions in the
United States and Brazil.
