The
UFC Fight Night 193 card got off to an explosive start, and
that was reflected in how the bonus money was distributed — with
four athletes from the preliminary draw receiving $50,000
“Performance of the Night” awards.
Flyweight prospect Casey
O’Neill earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus on the
strength of her second-round technical knockout of Antonina
Shevchenko. The Xtreme Couture product pressured Shevchenko,
landed a takedown and eventually transitioned to full mount in
Round 2, where she forced a stoppage with a barrage of punches,
elbows and hammerfists at the 4:47 mark.
Elsewhere, Jamie
Mullarkey captured a “Performance of the Night” check by virtue
of a come-from-behind win over Devonte
Smith in a preliminary lightweight affair. After a rough
opening stanza, Mullarkey turned it up in the second frame with an
assault that included punches, knees and standing elbows. A pair of
hooks to the body sent Smith crumbling to the canvas, and Mullarkey
sealed his victory with punches and hammerfists 2:51 into Round
2.
Douglas
Silva de Andrade scored a “Performance of the Night” award by
making short work of Gaetano
Pirrello in a featherweight matchup. Silva de Andrade ended his
opponent’s night with a counter left hook followed by hammerfists
on the canvas for a knockout triumph 2:04 into Round 1.
Finally, Alejandro
Perez earned a “Peformance of the Night” payment by securing
his first win since 2018 at the expense of Johnny
Eduardo in the opening bout of the card. Perez landed a
takedown in the second round, passed from full guard to side
control and then trapped his Brazilian adversary in a scarf-hold
armlock to force the tapout 4:13 into the first round of their
bantamweight scrap.
