Sitthichai Edges Tawanchai, Dejdamrong Puts Duoji Away at One: Battleground 3

The pre-recorded third part of the “One: Battleground” series
featured some entertaining striking clashes that took place nearly
a month ago.

The
One: Battleground 3
main event saw former Lumpinee Stadium
champ and Glory kickboxing champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong
edging Tawanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym in a One featherweight
muay Thai clash. Sitthichai pushed forward in the first exchanges,
but it was the 22-year-old Tawanchai who landed the more precise
shots in the opening stanza. In the second frame, Tawanchai landed
a well-executed roundhouse kick on his opponent, and proceeded to
sting him with kicks for much of the next few minutes. “Killer Kid”
turned to his boxing combinations, while mixing in elbows as he
kept advancing and scoring with his hands. It all came down to
Round 3, where Sitthichai blocked most of the shots from Tawanchai
and fired back, outworking a fatiguing opponent that slowed towards
the end of the match. When it came to hear the verdict, two judges
sided with Sitthichai and one with Tawanchai, rewarding “Killer
Kid” with a split decision victory.

In the co-main event at 128 pounds, three-division Lumpinee Stadium
titlist and ex-One champion
Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke
welcomed Wu Lin Feng vet
Banma
Duoji
to the organization. “Pretty Boy” looked comfortable in
the early going, landing a variety of punches as the Thai fighter
attempted to keep his opponent at bay with leg kicks. The
22-year-old, two decades his foe’s junior, displayed his superior
speed by marking the Thai’s face up and drawing blood. The veteran
savvy of “Kru Rong” was in full effect as he relied on chopping leg
kicks, which slowed his adversary as the fight progressed. Sensing
that the wind was changing, Dejdamrong trapped Duoji in the clinch
and landed several elbows to the Chinese fighter’s head, who
resorted to desperation takedown attempts. Dejdamrong stuffed these
and retaliated with some strikes that pushed the younger man into
the fence, and subsequent elbows from the Thai knocked Duoji to the
ground. The 42-year-old Dejdamrong (12-6, 12-6 One) forced the referee’s intervention with knees to the
head and punches that ended the contest
at 3:31 of Round 2.
Duoji (12-3, 0-1 One) finds himself on a two-bout skid for the
first time in his career.

Wei Xie
(9-3, 3-1 One) became the first man to stop former One bantamweight
title challenger Dae Hwan
Kim
(15-8-1, 6-8 One) with strikes as a professional. Xie finished the job with a few follow-up punches
after folding his opponent in half with a nasty liver shot
at
the 1:46 mark in Round 3 of their flyweight affair.

In earlier action, Jennifer
Olsim
(5-2, 2-0 One) laid claim to a unanimous decision over
Bi
Nguyen
(6-7, 2-4), earning her spot in one of the atomweight
grand prix alternate bouts against Grace
Cleveland
; at One’s bantamweight category, One Warrior Series
graduate Min Jong
Song
(12-8, 1-2 One) scored his first promotional victory by
upending Sanford MMA prospect Tial Thang
(3-1, 3-1 One) via unanimous decision; One Warrior Series vet
Otgonjargal
Purev
(8-1, 1-0 One) smashed Ben Royle
(5-2, 1-1 One) with ground-and-pound a mere 49 seconds into the
first round
of their bantamweight pairing to start off the
night.
