The
UFC on ESPN 30 card has lost a few fights after multiple
fighters were forced to withdraw from the Aug. 28 event.
The most prominent exit involves Olympic silver medalist and former
bantamweight title challenger Sara McMann,
who announced that she is pulling out of a proposed matchup with
Ketlen
Vieira due to injury.
“Ugh, I have crappy news to share. I am out of the August 28 fight
because of a reinjury,” McMann wrote. “I’m hoping like hell it’s a
quick healing process but I’ll have to wait until I get the final
prognosis to know. The worst part is that I was so healthy and
having a really great camp.
“I know I’ll keep the gains I’ve made but I was really hoping to
get the reward for all of the work I’ve put in the last few months.
If [Ketlen
Vieira] is able to wait and push our fight date back, I’m happy
to do that. I’ll be back to the [UFC] as quickly as possible.”
It’s currently unclear if Vieira will remain on the card against a
replacement opponent.
Additionally, Aliaskhab
Khizriev was forced to withdraw from a bout against Alessio
Di Chirico, according to
MMAFighting.com, and Mario
Bautista has pulled out of a matchup against Guido
Cannetti, per MMA
Island. The promotion is reportedly seeking a replacement foe
for Di Chiricio, but it is unknown if Cannetti will still compete
at the event.
UFC on ESPN 30 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is
headlined by a featherweight showdown between Edson
Barboza and Giga
Chikadze.
