scales.
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship wraps up its busy June schedule
with a potential heavyweight title eliminator match between
Ciryl
Gane and Alexander
Volkov atop
UFC Fight Night 190. Each of the 26 fighters for this event
made weight, and Volkov will keep a 20-pound weight advantage over
Gane.
The smaller heavyweight is the undefeated Gane, who yet to taste
defeat in his eight professional mixed martial arts bouts,
including five inside the Octagon. “Bon Gamin” most recently won a
five-round decision over Jairzinho
Rozenstruik, and before that, picked up a second-round TKO over
former champion Junior dos
Santos. The French fighter weighed 245 pounds for his second
UFC main event.
Former Bellator
MMA heavyweight champion Volkov (33-8) is the far more
experienced fighter coming into this marquee matchup. No stranger
to UFC headliners, “Drago” has won seven of his nine UFC bouts. In
his UFC tenure, the Russian has notched victories over names like
Alistair
Overeem, Walt Harris
and former champion Fabricio
Werdum. Volkov stepped on the scale at a solid 265 pounds.
UFC Fight Night 190 prelims will begin at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on
ESPN+. The main card also streams on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m. ET/1
p.m. PT.
