A popular young Bellator MMA up-and-comer has her next fight booked in
a month.
On Thursday,
Maxim was the first to reveal that Valerie
Loureda (3-0) has her next opponent set for
Bellator 258. The May 7 card will feature the Taekwondo star
against organizational newcomer Hannah Guy
(2-1). Loureda confirmed that she
had a bout signed on Wednesday, and the promotion has since
confirmed the booking on Thursday.
Loureda has competed for Bellator in all three of her pro
appearances, winning all three including a pair of knockouts. Her
debut in 2019 against Colby
Fletcher saw her finish her foe in under three minutes, and she
returned a few months later to capture a decision over Larkyn
Dasch. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 22-year-old was
away for more than a year before her most recent bout, but she made
the most of it by putting Tara Graff
away at exactly the 10-minute mark with a barrage of punches.
“The Hurricane” will be making her Bellator debut against Loureda,
and she also won by stoppage in August 2020. Bouncing back from her
first career defeat – a split decision setback to Kayla
Hracho nearly a year before – Guy tapped out Vanessa
Marie Grimes in the second frame. Both of her career wins have
come inside the Summit Fighting Championship cage, and both have
come by tapout in Round 2.
Bellator 258 goes down on May 7 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in
Uncasville, Conn., and the main event sees a bantamweight
championship bout between champ Juan
Archuleta and Sergio
Pettis. Other fights on the main card include a light
heavyweight grand prix quarterfinal matchup between Anthony
Johnson and Yoel Romero,
while Patrick Mix
faces James
Gallagher at bantamweight.
