One Championship ‘One on TNT 1’ Play-by-Play & Results

Round 1

Senegalese wrestler “Reug Reug” (2-0 | 1-0 One FC) looks to
continue his reign of terror against late replacement opponent
Schmid (0-0), an MMA neophyte who was previously scheduled to
appear in a kickboxing match on this card. The referee for this
heavyweight affair is Mohammed Suleiman. A touch of gloves, and
they’re off! Both men in orthodox stance. Schmid is coming forward,
throwing outside low kicks and reaching with jab. Kane charges
forward behind big left and right hooks and catches Schmid with
five or six punches as he stumbles backward. Kane gets an underhook
and trip near the fence and dumps Schmid onto his back. The Swiss
kickboxer scrambles and wriggles away, but “Reug Reug” is all over
him, landing in north-south, then finally to the side of a kneeling Schmid, throwing huge
punches to the side of the head. Ref Suleiman implores Schmid
to move, but a few seconds later he is forced to stop the beating.

Chingiz Allazov vs. Enriko Kehl

Round 1

2017 K-1 Super Welterweight World Grand Prix winner Allazov makes
his One debut against former K-1 Max world champ Kehl. The two have
met before, with Allazov winning their first meeting by knockout
five years ago. NB: Your friendly neighborhood play-by-play man
is a kickboxing aficionado, but in no way an expert. Veteran
referee Olivier Coste is the third man in the cage. Allazov early
on throwing outside low kicks and push kicks up the middle as Kehl
advances relentlessly in southpaw. First mention of the
Aggress-O-Meter by Michael Schivavello this evening, for those who
have it on their bingo card. Two minutes into the (three-minute)
round, Allazov has started to land his left hook to the body, out
of both stances. His left kick has reddened the right arm and
shoulder of Kehl. Allazov shoves Kehl to the ground just before the
bell. 10-9 Allazov.

Round 2

Kehl marches forward again, throwing punch combinations. Allazov
gives ground and throws kicks on the counter. One kick up high tags
Kehl on the face, but he shrugs it off. Halfway into the round,
Kehl catches a kick and dumps Allazov onto his seat. A minute left,
Kehl is still the aggressor, coming forward and outthrowing Allazov
by what feels like about three-to-one. Allazov slips against the
fence, and Coste has him stand. Allazov is more aggressive after
the slip. 10-9 Kehl.

Round 3

The final round sees Kehl continuing to walk Allazov down, throwing
punches. Allazov is landing kicks with both legs, and whether they
land to the leg, ribs or even to Kehl’s guard, they’re all leaving
their mark. Halfway into the round, Coste breaks a clinch, and
Allazov nails Kehl with a kick up the middle right after. Thirty
seconds left and Kehl throws a flurry of punches that clatter off
Allazov’s high guard. Tough round to score. The bell sounds on a
fun, high-paced kickboxing match. 10-9 Kehl (29-28 Kehl)

Round 1

McGuire (12-1 | 2-1 One FC) and Magomedaliev (7-1 | 2-1 One FC)
kick off the main card with a welterweight contenders’ matchup. The
third man in the cage is Mohamad Suleiman. They touch gloves and
get to business. McGuire runs Magomedaliev to the fence and is
punished with a series of knees up the middle for his efforts. One
knee strikes the cup, and Suleiman halts the action so McGuire can
recover. They resume striking, both men in orthodox, and McGuire
wastes no time in running Magomedaliev to the fence once again.
Magomedaliev fights his way off the fence, but they remain clinched
up, throwing short uppercuts. Magomedaliev throws a couple of very
short kicks to the claves of McGuire. Magomedaliev turns his hips
and looks to throw McGuire with an overhook, but McGuire pops back
up. A minute left and they finally break. McGuire is bleeding from
over the right eye as he shoves Magomedaliev to the fence yet
again. The round ends there. 10-9 Magomedaliev.

Round 2

McGuire comes forward behind a one-two and looks for the clinch,
but Magomedaliev meets him with knees and shoves him away. A
glancing cup shot by the American is waved away by Magomedaliev.
McGuire drops levels for his first real takedown attempt. It’s
deep, but Magomedaliev fights it off, perhaps with a little tiny
help from a fence grab. Suleiman cautions him, and McGuire finishes
the takedown a moment later, but Magomedaliev reverses him
instantly and lands on top. They scramble and return to their feet,
and Magomedaliev scores a takedown of his own with a nice lateral
drop. McGuire jumps back up. They clinch, but disengage. McGuire
shoots again, but Magomedaliev stands him up easily. Thirty seconds
left, and they’re clinching against the fence. When they break,
McGuire’s pace has slowed noticeably. Magomedaliev tries a rolling
kick at the clapper, but McGuire lands on top. The round ends. 10-9
Magomedaliev.

Round 3

The welterweights touch gloves before the final round. McGuire
catches Magomedaliev’s first inside knee and dumps him to the
canvas, landing in half guard. Magomedaliev controls him with an
overhook and throws heel kicks to McGuire’s left leg. The American
is on top but not doing much damage, let alone enough to make up a
likely two-round deficit. The pass to mount appears to be there,
but McGuire either doesn’t see it or elects to stay in half guard,
throwing short punches. Magomedaliev regains full guard as they
scoot towards the center of the cage. He throws his legs up for a
possible submission attempt, and a moment later grabs a kimura and
uses it to sweep to top position. After a punches to McGuire’s
head, Magomedaliev gets up. McGuire pushes him to the fence. 90
seconds left, both men breathing heavily. Magomedaliev gets an easy
double-leg takedown, and gets a front headlock as McGuire stands.
He goes for a guillotine choke, but McGuire lands on top in
half-guard, no danger. The round ends. 10-9 Magomedaliev (30-27
Magomedaliev).

Round 1

The lightweight co-main event features former Bellator and UFC
champion Alvarez (30-7, 1 NC | 1-1 One FC), looking to go over .500
in his new promotion against Lapicus (14-1 | 2-1 One FC), who will
seek to bounce back from his first career loss at the hands of One
lightweight champ Christian Lee last October. Justin Brown is set
to officiate. They set up in matching orthodox stances and, after a
few tentative early exchanges of single kicks and jabs, Alvarez
drops for a double-leg takedown. He gets Lapicus to his rear at the
base of the fence and laces both legs with his own, Khabib
Nurmagomedov-style. He begins throwing punches to Lapicus’ head,
and the referee cautions him against striking the back of the head.

Lapicus turns his head to the right, exposing the back of the head,
and the referee breaks up the action as Lapicus falls to his back
in apparent distress. Alvarez is protesting that he was hitting
the ear, and the One booth is running replay after replay while
Lapicus lays supine on the canvas. The blows looked incredibly
innocuous to your play-by-play man, but only one opinion matters at
the moment, and referee Brown holds up a red card for Alvarez, who
is sitting dejected against the cage. Disqualification.

Iuri Lapicus def. Eddie Alvarez in Round 1 via Disqualification
(Punches to Back of Head). There is no official in-cage
announcement, but the stoppage came right around the one-minute
mark.

Round 1

Three-time One Championship flyweight champ Moraes, the only man in
divisional history to successfully defend the belt, toes the line
against 2019 Flyweight Grand Prix winner Johnson, who is of course
best known for his record-setting run in the UFC 125-pound
division. It’s for all the marbles, it’s one of the biggest
small-man fights of the year, and it takes place under the watchful
eye of referee Olivier Coste. They touch gloves, and the first
strike landed is an outside leg kick by the challenger. Moraes is
bouncing around the outside, sliding laterally and Johnson cuts off
the cage and advances. Johnson switching stances early on, throwing
leg kicks from both sides. Moraes reaching with the job, but not
throwing a whole lot early on. Two minutes in, Johnson runs Moraes
to the fence and lends two knee strikes, the second of them almost
a jumper. They break and move back to the center of the cage.
Moraes catches a kick and looks for the takedown, but it’s Johnson
who lands on top. Moraes immediately starts working for a heel
hook, and when Johnson defends, Moraes takes top position. Moraes
in the challenger’s half guard against the fence, with his right
arm under Johnson’s neck. Johnson tries to wall-walk, but is
dragged away from the cage. Johnson still active from underneath,
working half-butterfly guard and trying a knee shield, looking for
the chance to pop back up. Moraes throws short, chipping shots from
top position as the bell sounds. 10-9 Moraes.

Round 2

Both men are more active to open Round 2, throwing immediately.
Johnson is more aggressive, dashing into punching range and
throwing to the head. Johnson lands a step-in knee. Moraes returns
fire with jabs and low kicks. Johnson grabs a slow knee strike and
as he lets go, Moraes catches him with a left hand to the face.
Johnson stumbles backward against the fence and Moraes is all over
him. He lands a pair of glancing punches, then a
crushing knee that lands flush to the jaw of the seated “Mighty
Mouse,” leveling him. It’s all over as Coste rushes in for the
stop. Sensational, sudden finish by your One Championship flyweight
champ — still — Adriano Moraes.

Round 1

If MMA was dinner, consider “Rodtang in four-ounce gloves” dessert.
The awesomely violent One flyweight muay Thai champion takes on
Aussie promotional newcomer Williams in this muay Thai catchweight
matchup. Olivier Coste will oversee the main event. NB: As with
the kickboxing match earlier, your friendly neighborhood
play-by-play man is a MT aficionado, but in no way an expert.
They exchange leg and body kicks from orthodox stance in the
opening moments. Williams throwing a lead left several times with
success. Williams drops an off-balance Rodtang to his seat with a
right hand, more of a slip than a knockdown. Rodtang backs up
Williams with a side kick to the breadbasket. Williams looking to
counter Rodtang’s kicks with a murderous right hand. He’s landed it
a few times, but not flush. The bell sounds on a tense three
minutes. 10-9 Williams.

Round 2

Rodtang is busy with leg kicks early on, stinging Williams to both
legs. He steps in with short hooks to the body underneath Williams’
counters. Rodtang lands a brutal left hook to the body, then one to
the head. Then another, and a third, which drops Williams to his
seat. That’s a knockdown. Williams gets right back up, but he’s
clearly hurt. He throws a spinning back elbow that misses, and
Rodtang is all over him, throwing punches and a clinch elbow.
Williams staggers away as the champ gives chase, stumbling and
nearly putting him down with a hard teep to the midsection.
Williams is shaky but still standing tow-to-toe and throwing back
at Rodtang. The bell sounds. Big round for Rodtang. 10-8
Jitmuangnon.

Round 3

Williams is bleeding from outside the left eye as the final round
starts. Rodtang is marching forward, feinting, and Williams throws
a superman elbow that glances off. Rodtang switches stances, but
isn’t throwing much as Williams matches forward and punches.
Williams throws a three-piece that lands. They clinch and Rodtang
comes away covered with Williams’ blood, which leads him to ask for
a timeout to clean up. They go back to work and exchange hacking
low kicks. They crash into the pocket and both throw elbows. Under
a minute left and Williams is still coming forward, throwing
punches. Williams throws a body kick that lands at the bell. 10-9
Williams (28-28 draw).
