A heavyweight showdown pitting Juan Espino
against Alexander
Romanov is slated for
UFC on ESPN 22.
Both fighters announced the booking via social media, and it was
also confirmed by
MMAFighting.com. UFC on ESPN 22 takes place on April 17 at the
UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is headlined by a middleweight tilt
between Robert
Whittaker and Kelvin
Gastelum.
The winner of Season 28 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Espino returned
to action for the first time in nearly two years at UFC 253, where
he tapped out Jeff Hughes
with a scarf hold in the opening stanza. The 40-year-old Spaniard
has been victorious in 10 of his 11 professional appearances, with
seven triumphs coming by way of submission.
Romanov, meanwhile, has been victorious in his first 13
professional outings, including submissions of Roque
Martinez and Marcos
Rogerio de Lima under the UFC banner. The former Eagles
Fighting Championship competitor has finished all of his triumphs
inside the distance.
