Darren
Till has suffered a broken collarbone in training and will not
be able to face Marvin
Vettori in the
UFC on ABC 2 headliner as originally planned.
Till announced the news in a post on his Instagram account
Tuesday.
“I’ve been [sitting] here for a good few hours debating how to say
this [and] put into words what I’m feeling [and] just going to say
it straight… I’VE BROKEN MY COLLARBONE! I’m out my fight next
week against Marvin,” Till wrote. “Every person who is around me or
who has been around me knows I train on a daily basis with f—ed up
knees, lower back, shoulders, hands and the list goes on.
“Yesterday while drilling I fell and straight away I knew I’d
broken something. To say I’m f—-ing destroyed by it is an
understatement. I’ve literally put my heart, soul, mind, physical
body, cash, nutrition, sleep, recovery [and] then some into making
sure I went out there next week [and] took his head off. And I was
100 percent sure I was going to… and with ease!!! I’m sure he was
thinking the same but ahh well…”
According to multiple reports, Kevin
Holland has agreed to face Vettori on short notice, but it is
currently unclear if the new middleweight bout will be finalized
for the April 10 event. UFC on ABC 2 takes place at the UFC Apex in
Las Vegas, and the main card airs on ABC and ESPN+ beginning at 3
p.m. ET/noon PT. Prelims begin at noon ET/9 p.m. PT on ESPN and
ESPN+.
“I am sorry [Marvin
Vettori],” Till wrote. “I hope you get a new opponent and we
can do this sometime soon in the future, I respect you highly as a
competitor.”
