Paul vs. Askren Triller Boxing Card Gains 3 Bouts Including Frank Mir-Antonio Tarver

>

A former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight king
will be testing out the sweet science with gloves on first.

From a press release sent out by Triller Fight Club on Thursday,
the April 17 boxing event headlined by Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren
has gained a trio of matches for its undercard. In the first,
Frank
Mir
(19-13 MMA) will square off against Antonio Tarver (31-6-1,
22 KOs) in a match previously reported by Mir in February.
The heavyweight boxing clash was awaiting clearance from the
Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, but it has now been
made official. Additionally, a super lightweight bout between Regis
Prograis (25-1, 21 KOs) and Ivan Redkach (23-5, 18 KOs) has been
added to the card. Finally, light heavyweight British
entrepreneur-turned-boxer Joe Fournier (8-0, 8 KOs) will face
Andres Felipe Robledo Londono, also known as famed musician Reykon
(0-0).

Back in 2020, Mir
reportedly signed
with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, but
any appearance did not come to fruition as there was never a final
agreement between the parties, per Mir. This bout against “The
Magic Man” will be his first appearance in a boxing ring as a pro.
A grappler by trade, Mir moved on from the UFC with the league’s
all-time heavyweight submission record with eight. The 41-year-old
has suffered twice as many knockout losses (10) as he has recorded
in victory (five) in MMA.

Tarver, 52, will be stepping into the ring for the first time since
his draw with Steve Cunningham in 2015. Up to his temporary
retirement, Tarver went on a six-fight unbeaten streak before
hanging up his gloves. This will not be the Olympic bronze
medalist’s first foray to the heavyweight division, as he took on
Nagy Aguilera in 2010 while weighing 221 pounds. Unlike his
opponent, the ex-champ has never been knocked out as a pro.

The Triller Fight Club boxing event on April 17 will go down at the
Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where there will be no ticket
sales but a select number of VIPs and fans will be invited to
attend. The headliner comes in the form of a roughly 190-pound
boxing match between Jake Paul and Ben Askren.
The $50 pay-per-view will be available through iNDemand and Fite TV
for purchase, with fights beginning that night at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m.
PT, and the pay-per-view portion starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m.
PT.
