There will be some new faces in the Professional Fighters League
heavyweight and women’s lightweight divisions this season.
The promotion announced the full rosters for both weight classes on
Tuesday. Heavyweight is led by defending champion Ali Isaev,
who bested Denis
Goltsov — who is also returning — in the 2019 final. Notable
newcomers include ex-UFC heavyweight champ Fabricio
Werdum and Mohammed
Usman, the brother of UFC welterweight king Kamaru
Usman. Other new talents such as Justin
Willis, Ante Delija,
Renan
Ferreira, Bruno Cappelozza and Brandon
Sayles will also vie for the $1 million prize.
Meanwhile, the PFL’s most recognizable star, Kayla
Harrison returns to defend her 155-pound title after defeating
Larissa
Pacheco in the 2019 championship. New additions to the weight
class include Mariana
Morais, Olena Kolesnyk and Julija
Pajic.
“Our fighters continue to showcase their smarts, grit and bold
personalities as we get closer and closer to the season, and we are
excited to support them in their journeys with the PFL,” said PFL
CEO Peter Murray. “Each fighter has his or her own unique journey
and we are confident the PFL will provide them and our fans with
ample opportunity for exciting matchups making it a great
season.”
The PFL season kicks off on April 23. The heavyweights and women’s
lightweights will be featured at an event on May 6. Cards will air
on ESPN2, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes.
