Joselyne
Edwards will make a quick turnaround for her sophomore Octagon
appearance.
Edwards will step in for Nicco
Montano and face Karol Rosa
in a bantamweight scrap at
UFC Fight Night 184 on Feb. 6.
Milenio was first to report the new booking. A reason for
Montano’s withdrawal was not disclosed. UFC Fight Night 184 takes
place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is headlined by a
heavyweight showdown between Alistair
Overeem and Alexander
Volkov. The card will stream in its entirety on ESPN+.
Edwards made her first promotional foray at UFC on ABC 1 on Jan.
16, when she outpointed Yanan Wu in a
preliminary matchup. The 25-year-old Panamanian has been victorious
in nine of her last 10 professional bouts, with her only setback
during that time coming to current UFC talent Sarah Alpar
at LFA 55 in November 2018.
Rosa, meanwhile, enters the matchup on a four-bout winning streak,
a run that includes a split-decision triumph over Lara
Fritzen Procopio at UFC Fight Night 157 and a unanimous verdict
against Vanessa
Melo at UFC 251. The 26-year-old Parana Vale Tudo
representative is 13-3 as a pro, with six triumphs coming inside
the distance.
Montano, the promotion’s inaugural women’s flyweight queen, hasn’t
competed since July 2019, when she lost a decision to Julianna
Pena at UFC Fight Night 155.
