Roberto Soldic Annihilates Michal Materla in KSW 56 Headliner

Middleweight seems to suit Roberto
Soldic
just fine.

The former Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki welterweight title holder moved
up to 185 pounds in the KSW
56
main event, where he scored a first-round stoppage of former
divisional champion Michal
Materla
(29-8). The fight became a one-man show after Soldic
(18-3) caught Materla with a left hand and dropped his opponent one
minute into the round. Soldic punished his opponent with a few
follow-up punches, but “Magic” somehow survived Soldic’s first
assault.

Sensing that Materla was still rocked from those shots, “Robocop”
kept his opponent guessing with several punches and kicks. In a
desperate attempt to make the barrage of punches stop, Materla went
for a takedown, which Soldic blocked with ease. The end of the
contest arrived after “Robocop” poured another battery of shots on
his Polish opponent. The referee jumped in to stop the action at
the 4:40 mark of the first round.

In the co-main event, Tomasz
Narkun
(18-3) successfully defended his light heavyweight
championship against Ivan Erslan
(9-1). The Croatian challenger gave the defending champion a hard
time in the first round, making “Giraffe” miss and then countering
with effective combinations of his own. Since Erslan arguably took
home the first round, Narkun had some urgency as he entered into
the second stanza. A well-placed punch from the defending champion
turned the odds in his favor. After dropping his opponent on the
canvas, “Giraffe” jumped on, took the challenger’s back, and sunk
in a rear-naked choke. Erslan couldn’t resist the pressure for long
and tapped out 51 seconds into the round.

In a 125-pound affair, Justyna
Haba
(3-1) took home a unanimous decision victory after
outpointing Karolina
Owczarz
(3-1). Immediately prior, Bellator MMA and Strikeforce
veteran Marius
Zaromskis
(23-9) overcame Andrzej
Grzebyk
(17-4) after Grzebyk injured himself at the 4:58 mark
of the first stanza.

Elsewhere, Mateusz
Legierski
(7-0) earned a hard-fought majority decision in a
160-pound catchweight against Francisco
Albano Barrio
(7-2); Filip Pejic
(15-4-2) rendered Sebastian
Rajewski
(9-6) unconscious with the very first right punch he
landed 11 seconds into their 150-pound catchweight clash; in a
razor-close featherweight affair, Daniel
Torres
(11-4) edged Max Coga
(22-7-1) via split decision and Robert
Ruchala
(4-0) forced Michal
Domin
(3-2) to tap to an armbar with one second remaining in
the first stanza of their featherweight clash.
