The Bellator European Series is back with two more dates: Sept. 26
and Oct. 3.
On Tuesday, Bellator
MMA announced the dates for two Bellator European Series events
that will go down in Milan, Italy. The Oct. 3 card will feature a
bantamweight clash in its main event as James
Gallagher (10-1) will take on Callum
Ellenor (8-2).
“The Strabanimal” will put his three-bout winning streak on the
line against longtime rival Ellenor. In his latest cage appearance,
the Irishman submitted Roman
Salazar thanks to a slick guillotine choke at Bellator 227.
Prior, he upended Jeremiah
Labiano and submitted Steven
Graham at Bellator 223 and Bellator 217, respectively. So far,
only Ricky
Bandejas managed to derail the SBG Ireland-representative in
his professional career.
Ellenor has fought only once under the Bellator’s banner. “Cal
Pacino” made his promotional debut back in February 2019 when he
submitted Nathan
Greyson via rear-naked choke in the opening stanza of their
Bellator Newcastle encounter.
Bellator has already tried to make this matchup happen three times
in the past. They should have met first at Bellator 227, but that
time Ellenor pulled out due to an injury. Then it was Gallagher’s
turn to postpone as he got his back injured before Bellator 240.
The last time the two European fighters should have locked horns,
the whole Bellator London event was canceled due to the COVID-19
pandemic.
Bellator Milan: Gallagher vs. Ellenor will go down at the Allianz
Cloud in Milan, Italy, on Oct. 3. The card will also feature a
middleweight co-main event as Charlie
Ward (8-4) takes on Andy
Manzolo (22-7). The second of the freshly-announced Bellator
European Series will be the third straight event Bellator MMA will
hold in Italy after Bellator Milan: Edwards vs. van Steenis and
Bellator 247.
