Allycia Hellen Rodrigues Upends Stamp Fairtex in Championship Battle at One: A New Breed

“Stamp Fairtex” is no longer the queen of her muay Thai
division.

On Aug. 28, One
Championship
returned with a live card titled
One: A New Breed
, which took place at the Impact Arena in
Bangkok, Thailand.

The main event featured a muay Thai battle for One’s atomweight
championship between the defending champ Nong Stamp
and challenger Allycia Hellen Rodrigues. The Brazilian fighter
started slow but gained momentum after making some adjustments in
her gameplan. Eventually, the Brazilian fighter upset the local
hero Stamp by leading a brilliant fight that saw her emerging
victorious thanks to a majority decision on the judges’
scorecards.

In the co-main event, Rodlek PK. Saenchaimuaythaigym locked horns
with Kulabdam Sor in the final of the bantamweight muay Thai Grand
Prix that One promoted to find a challenger for Nong-O
Gaiyanghadao. Kulabdam was supposed to face Saemapetch Fairtex, but
the latter was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury.
Rodlek made the most out of his second chance and dictated the pace
of the battle, even dropping Kulabdam a couple times. At the end of
the bout, all three judges rewarded him with a unanimous decision
victory.

It took just a few seconds to Denice
Zamboanga
(5-0) to get over the MMA debutant Watsyapinya
Kaewkhong
(0-1). Zamboanga shot for a successful takedown as
soon as the fight started. Once on the canvas, she locked a vicious
keylock that forced Kaewkhong to tap. The referee called the end of
the action after a mere 88 seconds. “The Menace” has now gathered a
3-0 record under the One banner, after edging both Hayatun
Jihin Radzuan
and Mei
Yamaguchi
via decision.

Earlier on the card, the brother of “The Menace,” Drex
Zamboanga
(8-5), made his successful promotional debut in One
by submitting Detchadin Sornsirisuphathin (8-6). The rear-naked
choke came two seconds before the end of the second stanza of their
flyweight encounter.

Elsewhere, Wondergirl Fairtex scored her second victory in One
after forcing the doctor to intervene to save KC Carlos in round 2.
Sok Thy crushed Huang Ding thanks to a nasty body shot knockout in
the opening frame of their flyweight muay Thai contest. In the
first MMA bout on the card, Yodkaikaew
Fairtex
(5-2-1) battered Alex
Schild
(5-4) with a constant barrage of leg kicks that forced
the referee to call a stop to the fight at the 1:21 mark in round
three.
