Ultimate Fighting Championship’s event at the end of
September. First reported by
MMA Fighting on Thursday night, both Mirsad
Bektic (13-3) and Luiz
Eduardo Garagorri (13-1) have since confirmed on
social media
that they will be squaring off against one another. They will be
competing at featherweight at a UFC
Fight Night card on Sept. 26, which will be held at the UFC
Apex in Las Vegas.
Tristar Gym standout Bektic is looking to halt the first losing
streak of his career. In February, Bektic dropped a narrow split
decision to Dan Ige, while
in July 2019, Josh Emmett
knocked him out in the opening frame. Since joining the UFC roster
in 2014, Bektic has notched wins over Ricardo
Lamas, Chas Skelly
and Godofredo
Castro. Until he met Darren
Elkins in 2017, Bektic had never tasted defeat in his career,
sporting a record of 11-0 with eight stoppage wins to his
credit.
Uruguay’s Garagorri is likewise trying to break out of a slump,
suffering his first career loss in November when Ricardo
Ramos tapped him in the first round. The defeat truncated a
13-fight win streak since his pro debut in 2015, which saw him
dispatch 10 of 13 foes inside the distance. The CT Fronteira Fight
competitor made his successful promotional debut in his home
country at UFC Fight Night 156, giving the crowd much to cheer for
when he captured a one-sided decision on the main card over
Humberto
Bandenay.
The UFC Fight Night card on Sept. 26 going down at the UFC Apex in
Las Vegas currently does not have a headliner. Featured highly on
the event is a significant strawweight pairing between Claudia
Gadelha and Xiaonan Yan.
Additionally, Kai
Kara-France and Brandon
Royval will lock horns at the flyweight division.
