Robertson (7-4) was initially scheduled to face Taila Santos at the UFC Fight Night event on June 20, but now she will be taking on Cortney Casey (9-7). The reason for Santos’ withdrawal was not given, although the Brazilian could be facing potential visa or travel complications to get to the United States. This matchup was initially reported by ESPN, and Robertson retweeted the announcement to confirm this fight was in the works.
In her four UFC wins, Robertson has recorded four stoppages all in the flyweight division. In doing so, “Savage” currently holds the record for the most finishes at women’s flyweight — even though her bout with Sarah Frota was a catchweight, Robertson successfully made weight. Robertson last competed in October 2019, and suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of Maycee Barber. Before the defeat, the Canadian became the first fighter to tap out Veronica Macedo and also the first to knock out Frota.
The match will be a quick turnaround for Casey, who competed at UFC on ESPN 8 in May and will be fighting just over a month later. At that ESPN card, Casey tapped Mara Romero Borella with an armbar. Alternating wins and losses in her last four, “Cast Iron” moved up from strawweight following her loss to Cynthia Calvillo in February 2019.
This UFC Fight Night card is scheduled for June 20, and no location or venue have been announced. It was originally set to take place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, but the coronavirus has nixed those plans. It is unclear whether the previously scheduled headliner of Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov will take place on the event, but Roxanne Modafferi will meet on Lauren Murphy at flyweight on the card.
