Budd (13-2) won the inaugural Bellator women’s featherweight title back in 2017 after finishing Marloes Coenen with punches. “The Jewel” has notched up three defenses since then, with the most recent a TKO win over Olga Rubin. Budd’s only losses have come to Nunes, who knocked her out in just 14 seconds back in 2011, and Ronda Rousey, who submitted her in 39 seconds. She’ll look to continue her 11-fight win streak against “Cyborg.” The champion successfully made weight by coming in at 144.5 pounds.
Justino (21-2, 1 NC) bounced back from a stunning knockout loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 232 by outclassing Felicia Spencer in the last fight of her UFC deal. “Cyborg” then signed with Bellator and was granted an immediate title shot. Considered as the top female fighter in the sport for many years, “Cyborg” has racked up wins over the likes of Holly Holm, Coenen and Gina Carano. Before losing to Nunes, she hadn’t tasted defeat since May 2005. The challenger looked well on the scale and came in at 143.8 pounds.
The co-main event sees former bantamweight champ Darrion Caldwell tussle with Adam Borics in their featherweight world grand prix quarterfinal bout. Caldwell (14-3) rebounded from back-to-back losses to Kyoji Horiguchi by beating Henry Corrales to advance in the tournament. The undefeated Borics will look to improve his win streak to 15, and is coming off dominant TKO wins over Aaron Pico and Pat Curran.
Bellator 238 will air live on Dazn starting at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
