Three Title Bouts Announced for One Championship’s 100th Event in Tokyo

Angela Lee, Aung La N Sang and Bibiano Fernandes have title defenses scheduled for One Championship’s 100th event in Tokyo on Oct. 13.

One Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the news on Sunday. Lee will face Jingnan Xiong in an atomweight (115-pound) title clash; N Sang will defend the light heavyweight crown against heavyweight king Brandon Vera and Bibiano Fernandes will put the bantamweight (145-pound) strap on the line against Kevin Belingon.

One Championship “Century” will also feature the finals of the promotion’s lightweight and flyweight tournaments for MMA and the finals of the featherweight grand prix for kickboxing. Cross-promotional bouts pitting fighters from Shooto against competitors from Pancrase will also take place on the card; those matchups will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lee, who is already booked to face Michelle Nicolini at a One Championship event in Malaysia on July 12, moved up a division to challenge Xiong for the flyweight belt on March 31, losing by fifth-round TKO. It was the first loss in 10 professional outings for Lee. Xiong, meanwhile, is 14-1 as a pro.

N Sang is currently on a six-bout winning streak under the One banner, including a second-round TKO of Ken Hasegawa in his most recent outing at “A New Era” on March 31. Since joining One, Vera has finished all four of his opponents by KO or TKO inside of a round.

Fernandes and Belingon will square off for a fourth time in Tokyo. Their most recent meeting ended in the second stanza on March 31 when Belingnon was disqualified for landing illegal elbows to the back of Fernandes’ head. Fernandes has won two of the first three bouts against Belingon.
