The Professional Fighters League has revealed the lineup for the event that will determine who gets into the welterweight and women’s lightweight tournaments.
On Friday, ESPN and the promotion announced the 10-fight lineup for the deciding event of the welterweight and women’s lightweight playoff brackets. This event will be held at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on July 11, and it will air on ESPN+ and ESPN2.
Headlining the card will be 2018 welterweight champ Magomed Magomedkerimov (24-5) taking on Chris Curtis (21-5). Magomedkerimov tapped out John Howard at PFL 2019 1 in the first round to earn six points, although he was one of three welterweight that night to pick up first-round stoppages. Curtis faced off against Andre Fialho in the first event, finishing the Portuguese fighter in Round 3 and earning one of the latest stoppages in company history to get four points.
Serving as the main attraction for the women’s lightweight division will again be Kayla Harrison (4-0), who matches up against the only woman who was finished at the first event, Morgan Frier (4-2). Harrison went the distance for the first time in her career in her last bout, beating Larissa Pacheco on the scorecards to earn three points. Meanwhile, her opponent Frier suffered a first-round arm-triangle choke loss at the hands of Sarah Kaufman at the same event.
Also of note, Kaufman (21-4, 1 NC) will meet Roberta Samad (5-1) as the two look to battle for a potential top seed. Only four of the eight women will make the playoffs. While Kaufman scored the stoppage in the first round at PFL 2019 1 to earn six points, Samad earned a decision over Moriel Charneski to pick up three points of her own.
