The Professional Fighters League will be launching their new tournament in May, where they will hold all of their Regular Season events in New York and Atlantic City.
On Thursday, the PFL stated in an official press release their schedule for the Regular Season of their 2019 tournament. According to the release, each of their first six events will take place Thursday nights. Their first three events will take place at NYCB Live in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Colosseum, on May 9, May 23 and June 6. The second half of the Regular Season will take place in Atlantic City, at the Ocean Casino Resort, on July 11, July 25 and August 8. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale for the first three New York events on March 11, with the tickets for the three Atlantic City events at a date to be determined.
Peter Murray, CEO of the PFL, made this announcement: “We are proud to announce Thursday nights this May through August will officially be PFL MMA Night for fans in the New York/New Jersey region.” He continued, “The PFL innovative “win and advance” sports-season format means every fight matters, so fans of MMA will love to experience the PFL live at Nassau Colosseum and Ocean Resort and Casino this summer.”
Recently, the PFL signed a multi-year deal with ESPN to air all their events on their respective networks. Like last year, the promotion will have six weight classes competing for their own division’s championships in a multi-stage tournament. Unlike last year, the middleweight division has been replaced by a women’s lightweight division. To qualify for the tournament, in the regular season performances are given a point system, where fast finishes earn more points than decision wins.
The promotion also announced earlier this week part of the lineup for the tournament, which includes five of the six divisional champions from last year as well as several other finalists. The remainder of the roster will be released soon.
