A featherweight clash with title implications will go down in the Windy City when Holly Holm squares off against Megan Anderson at UFC 225.
The Chicago Tribune first reported the matchup on Wednesday. UFC 225 takes place at the United Center in Chicago on June 9 and is headlined by a middleweight title tilt between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero. In the co-main event, Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington will lock horns for the interim welterweight crown.
Holm is coming off a loss to Cristiane Justino in a featherweight title bout in the UFC 219 headliner. The Jackson-Wink MMA product was able to go the full five rounds against “Cyborg” in defeat, but didn’t truly threaten the Brazilian knockout artist. The 36-year-old New Mexican has lost four of her last five bouts.
Anderson, the former Invicta FC 145-pound titlist, was supposed to face Justino for the vacant featherweight strap in at UFC 214 in July but had to withdraw from the contest due to personal issues. The 28-year-old Australia native owns an 8-2 career mark and has won her last four fights in a row.
