Unbeaten Boxer Gervonta Davis Gets Plenty of Feedback After Expressing Interest in UFC Fight

If Gervonta Davis ever makes good on his claim that he would like to compete in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he would have no shortage of willing suitors for his Octagon debut. Over the weekend the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather protégé expressed an interest in the UFC via Twitter. Davis owns a 19-0 record as a professional boxer, including 18 triumphs via knockout or technical knockout. He is scheduled to face Jesus Cuellar for the vacant WBA Super Featherweight world title on April 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Not surprisingly, Davis’ statement got a lot of responses from active fighters on the UFC roster. Often, Davis had no qualms about firing right back.

Whether Davis was sincere or simply just stirring the pot, it’s clear that the MMA vs. boxing debate is far from dead. It’s unlikely Davis will be the last fighter from either sport to show interest in making the transition to the other side.
