Brendan
Loughnane came into the
2024 PFL Regular Season 6 card having already secured a
Professional Fighters League featherweight playoff spot, but
that didn’t stop him from putting on a show against Justin
Gonzales.
A clear striking advantage was on display from the very beginning
as Loughnane (28-5) was able to find his distance and regularly
clip Gonzales (14-5). In clear control, Gonzales
would get a nasty cut on his forehead in the second round from
a knee to the head. After the doctor looked at the laceration, the
fight was called off at 3:34 of Round 2.

Storley Outwrestles Poclit
The final welterweight fight of the night saw Logan
Storley take on Luca Poclit
in the co-main event. Poclit (10-1) wasted no time getting Storley (15-3) to the floor,
but neither man could get a finish, and their playoff hopes were
dashed once the first five minutes expired. The American would find
more success in the second frame as he was able to get on top and
control his opponent on the ground. Poclit would threaten with a
bulldog choke in the final round, but it wound up being Storley who
had more energy left.
After 15 minutes of action, the judges awarded Storley the win with
scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in his favor.
Umalatov Retires Ward
Brennan
Ward needed an early finish against Magomed
Umalatov to advance to the PFL playoffs and came out swinging
as a result.
Despite the heavy leather being thrown by Ward (17-9), the
undefeated Umalatov (16-0) was able to get a takedown and get the
fight to the ground. Once on the floor, the Russian secured an
anaconda choke.
Once it got sunk in, Ward had no choice but to tap at 3:43 of
Round 1.
With the win, the undefeated welterweight advanced to the playoffs
with 9 points and will go up against Don Madge.
Meanwhile, Ward hung up his gloves after the loss and retired.
Overweight Braga Beats Injured Jenkins
Gabriel
Braga came into the fight against Bubba
Jenkins nearly five pounds heavy, but he came out on top
against the wrestler.
Jenkins (21-9) immediately used his grappling advantage by taking
the Brazilian down in Round 1. However, Braga (14-1) came out
firing in the second round, and during a takedown attempt in the
second frame, Jenkins appeared to injure his elbow. Braga took
advantage of the situation
by unloading with punches and picked up the TKO win.
Gaining five points for the finish, Braga advances to the
featherweight playoffs with 11 points and will face Timur
Khizriev.
